Bottom liners… they are so much fun to work with.
NOT!
I just got off the phone with Derek, my sales director, and he told me about a conversation he had with someone who had filled out an application to work with us, the AdToons team.
Let’s call this guy Mr. B&W.
Derek said he began the conversation as he does with most folks looking for an AdToons video for their business. He asked what Mr. B&W was looking to achieve; his goals, in other words.
The guy then kicked off his answer with the classic, “Don’t take this the wrong way.” (Of course, he really meant the opposite. Otherwise, why say it?).
“I don’t want to get into a 20-year relationship with you guys, I just want an AdToons video. I’m a black-and-white guy and just need to know the bottom line on price.”
I told Derek the conversation probably should have ended there. From what I’d heard so far, he sounded like one of those never-satisfied, know-it-all (even though they are very wrong) types.
We’re not interested in partnering with folks who are primarily concerned with how much it’ll cost them and secondarily – if that – with how an AdToons video can transform their business (as they have for so many of our past clients).
Now, a little background.
Mr. B&W is having a conversion issue. His complex software is hard to understand. He gets decent traffic, but no one buys. His home page is filled with many glaring issues.
It’s no doubt his sales inbox is empty.
But… Mr. B&W wanted to cut to the chase and find out pricing…
Derek shared it, and, as it turned out, twas not in Mr. B&W’s price range.
Wow, didn’t see that coming, right? Hah!
Mr. B&W said he could use the money invested in AdToons to drive traffic to the site.
Bing-bong. Hello?
Well, instead why don’t u flush that chunk of change down the toilet instead? Cause you will still leaky holes converting cold leads into buyers.
Look… to be honest, AdToons is not for everyone.
But if Mr. B&W wasn’t such a black-and-white, bottom line guy, he would have discovered that we are much more of than simple video creators. We are a full direct-response agency that builds highly-converting funnels for clients in a wide variety of niches and industries.
We have worked with the best marketers in the world (and had many as our mentors, not to mention clients!), and we’ve learned from them the most powerful marketing strategies and techniques and applied them to what we do for our own business.
Yes, the who’s who of top marketers have us on speed dial. Plus, we experiment and test our own funnels every day.
Not only do we assist with bettering your conversions, we also have tools to drive traffic using our one-of-a-kind AdToons videos.
SO, we are a one-two punch for driving and converting traffic. It’s our bread and butter. It’s what we know… backed up by many years of experience.
Now, contrast this Mr. B&W with another person I spoke to a few weeks back. Here was their approach:
“I really love the way your business is set up to respond to me when I entered your site through your application page. Tell me how I can do that for my business.”
One person is open to learn and the other is not.
So, why tell Derek to end the conversation after the 20 years comment?
Good question.
We have been around since 2005 and still have ongoing relationships
with many of our happy customers.
These are our ideal clients… not the nickel-and-dimers like Mr. B&W… and that is perfectly fine. Mr. B&W will find just the right fit eventually…
And we will go on eating steak and enjoying life.
I know this sounds harsh, but it’s true. Mr. B&W will still be left with a SCREAMING need to fix his conversion issue.
Don’t be like Mr. B&W. Be open to learning how to radically transform how you generate leads and sales in your business. Let’s kick things off with a mini-questionnaire.
First, identify who your target audience is now.
What do their revenues look like?
DO their core values match up to yours?
What are problem are they trying to solve?
Can your products/services solve their issue?
Okay, all for now. I’ll be back in touch soon.
Oh, and if you live on the East Coast, hunker down for a few days. And try to keep warm!
If you are not like Mr. B&W and would like the opportunity to work together and see if we are a fit, simply click this link and fill out the form on that page.
And Derek or myself will follow up with you.
Best,
