Back in 1996 I lived and played pro football in Germany.
After the season, I vacationed to Tunisia, Africa. A family I met there invited me to their small island off the coast of Sicily called Levanzo.
While there, the family introduced me to many of the islanders. The total population on this island, 80 people. I grew to know a few of them very well as I traveled back to the island a couple of times. One of them was named Angelo. He was a fisherman.
Not like the fisherman we know… with huge boats like you see on the Discovery Channel. Angelo used a 12-foot boat to catch fish. His boat was a bit bigger than a rowboat we are used to. And they use a fishing line with NO poles. Crazy, huh?
When I arrived back one visit, a group of islanders ran up to me excited to share with me a story about Angelo. They said he went fishing one day and caught a 6-foot tuna. Could barely fit it into the boat. It wore him out big time. They went on to tell me his one tuna fed the entire island for a month straight. That’s how big it was. The tuna was taller than you Vince!
“What? That’s incredible!”
Imagine that. Imagine catching a fish so big, it could feed your family and all the neighbors for a month.
This above story is a metaphor for what I want to share with you today.
Unless you live in a harbor town you won’t ever get the exhilaration of catching a 6-foot tuna inside a 12-foot boat. But you do have the ability to land a whale of a client with your marketing…
Take this next story for example.
Caleb is a young boy who loves marketing. A few years back he started putting his message out on YouTube. He created videos everyday…and one day a woman clicked his video and watched it.
She was enamored with the young man.
This person happened to be the sister of a major player in the marketing space…think 10X.
Caleb’s new fan put the two together and the whale helped pull the minnow up the ladder and provided a ton of exposure for the young man.
His family and friends probably said, “your videos only get 46 views max! Why are you doing this?”
But Caleb persevered and it paid off in spades. It boosted both his following and sales! One small view led to one BIG connection.
Maybe you don’t feel comfortable knocking out videos everyday… no problem.
Let me tell you another story…
Shareable content in a small effective whiteboard package
A previous client of ours forwarded one of our videos to Russell Brunson some 10 years ago.
For the uninformed… Russell Brunson is the co-founder of ClickFunnels… a super successful SAAS company.
And that’s all it took. Russell wanted to know how to get in touch with me. He was the fastest sale we ever made. He didn’t barter, he didn’t negotiate, he didn’t haggle… he simply said, “how much?”
Then he dove right in.
So let me repeat that for you in case you missed it. I didn’t have to talk to him over the phone for 15-30 minutes or more. I didn’t have to build rapport. I didn’t have to explain the process. I didn’t have to take a second of my time convincing him.
Simply emailed an order form…and within the hour he returned it. Don’t ya wish you had more clients like him!?
That’s the power of video marketing! And more importantly, AdToons!
Do you get that?
It took my story of helping others… and a sample video sent to him.
As a result, having an effective whiteboard video sales tool in place that’s shareable is all you need.
Russell and I have been doing business together ever since.
Again, the power of video marketing.
Therefore, that relationship has led to hundreds upon thousands of dollars alone.
How video marketing creates leverages in your business
The whiteboard animation is great because:
• friends can share quickly by email/text to friends
• colleagues earn easier buy-in forwarding it up the chain of command
• you can duplicate yourself and be in many places at once
The first item is how Russell and I got connected.
Russell was big back then, maybe the size of a shark… he is a whale now. Perhaps even a BLUE whale weighing 190 tons. Hah!
Attracting a whale can happen using the AdToons whiteboard videos and definitely not just getting in front of a scary camera and talking.
Who is your ideal whale? Your ideal client?
Or are there a lot of smaller fish you want to put your video marketing in front of? That works too because you can do this while you meet with your team, work on growing other parts of your business. Or maybe just maybe you are hanging out with your family on the beach and alerts fly into your sales team that is taking care of business.
Wouldn’t you want bait floating around on Social media that attracts sharks and whales?
It can be done when you decide to take that first step.
Best,
Vince Palko
